Our 6/7 Course is designed to equip students with the essential skills and confidence needed to thrive in Year 7 next year.
The Year 6 Course is designed to offer support and guidance to students as they transition from primary school to high school. This course is specifically created to help students establish a strong foundation that will enable them to cope with the rigors of high school effortlessly.
What students will study
English
The 6/7 English course guides students through a diverse range of text formats — from everyday procedural writing and traditional myths to feature articles and visual media. By analysing how meaning is created and communicated, students build strong analytical skills and master persuasive writing to effectively engage their audience.
Mathematics
In the 6/7 Maths lessons students build solid mathematical confidence by mastering key concepts in number theory, decimals, percentages and early algebra. Through structured problem-solving and real-world applications, learners tackle both foundational and extension modules — concluding with a thorough term review designed to ensure complete readiness for Year 7.

How our program works
Five steps, every week and every term.
- Lesson. Students attend weekly theory lessons that introduce new concepts and build foundational knowledge, with active participation, question-asking and note-taking encouraged.
- Weekly homework and S.O.Q. Homework reinforces the lesson, and the S.O.Q (Special Online Quiz) tests comprehension and retention of the material.
- Watch VOD. Video On Demand lets students revisit the lesson at their own pace — pause, rewind and rewatch the parts they need.
- Term progress test. A test on everything covered in the term measures progress and shows where more work is needed.
- Review the test. Students go over the questions they got wrong with their teachers, with explanations and extra practice before the next term begins.

The other Year 6 courses
Students sitting the Selective High School Placement Test continue the Selective Trial Test Course until the test in Term 2, and students aiming for a Year 7 or later transfer can start on the HAST and Edutest early.
